The wellbeing of our customers and staff is a top priority. With the continuous news regarding coronavirus (COVID-19), these are the steps we are taking:


We are carefully monitoring the situation and are following the guidance from the World Health Organization and our national health agencies, and we are carefully following their recommendations.

At Enterprise we always take cleaning seriously and put extreme emphasis on following comprehensive cleaning procedures of our vehicles – inside and out. During this time, these procedures are more important than ever. 

We are thoroughly instructing our staff in following the guidelines from the World Health Organization as well as national health agencies. We are specifically instructing staff to stay at home if they have any symptoms.

We recommend against handshakes and instruct all to keep an extra distance.

Wherever possible, we have placed hand sanitizers for our customers in all locations.

Change/cancel booking

We understand that travel plans can change, and we aim to be as helpful as possible. If you wish to cancel your booking, you can do so on our website, if you have booked directly with us. If you have booked with a third party, we advise you to contact them.

NB! If you are sick or assume you are infected, do not show up at our locations.


We advise our clients, suppliers and partners to apply the following preventative measures suggested by the DGS (Direção Geral da Saúde) as a critical way to ensure your well-being and of anyone in your vicinity.

Ensure social distancing.

Maintain etiquete, such as covering your nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing, and washing your hands after sneezing ou coughing.

Reinforce higiene measures, such as frequent hand-washing with water and soap or with a alcohol based liquid and avoid contact with individuals with respiratory infections.

Are we open?

 

Yes. Dispatch No. 3614-A / 2020 of March 23, 2020 determined that Rent-a-Car and Rent-a-Cargo activities are permitted under certain conditions, for the transportation of people and goods, further reinforcing the importance of Rent-a-Car and Rent-a-Cargo services in the mobility of people and goods in our current situation.

These services are paramount in the distribution of food, medicine, and transportation of health professionals, as well as other professionals whose activity cannot be dispensed with. Therefore, companies that provide services of this nature will remain in operation.

Am I allowed to rent?

 

1. Rent-a-Cargo (Cargo vehicle rental without a driver)

Renting cargo vehicles without a driver is permitted.

2. Rent-a-Car (Short-term rental of vehicles without a driver)

Renting passenger vehicles without a driver is allowed only in the following situations:

- Authorized exceptional travel: purchase of essential goods or services; travelling for health reasons or to provide assistance to other people;

- Exercising trade retail or service activities that are authorized;

- Providing assistance to damaged, immobilized or injured drivers and vehicles.

Exercising Rent-a-Car services without drivers are not permitted for other purposes not previously described, namely for tourism and / or other purposes.

Are there exceptions?

 

The only exceptions present in the aforementioned Decree, on the normal activity of services provided by Rent-a-Car and Rent-a-Cargo companies, are in relation to car rentals for leisure or services of similar nature.

Rental agreements currently active, which do not fit the permitted purposes: the tenant must deliver their vehicles within five working days. If the vehicles are not delivered, the renting company should send a letter requesting the delivery of the vehicles in order to prove and fulfill its present obligation.

  1. Time changes in Guerin Enterprise locations?
    In order to implement the security measures defined by the DGS, the opening hours of our stations have been changed.   2. If the Customer is unable to return the car for the following reasons: - is being held in quarantine - You are abroad and cannot cross the border - You are in a location with entry limitations | exits (ex: Ovar) - Other situations not mentioned but related?
    You should contact the Helpline at +351 210 100 200 (option 2) or send an email to operationsbackoffice@guerin.com.pt. You must also ensure that the car is properly parked, and you must additionally share a photo with the km as well as the fuel level. If you are in quarantine, you must also send the related certificate, which will be added with your current contract. Internal procedure: the contract must be overdue until the driver is able to deliver the car..
  3. If the Customer is unable to return the car, because he's in quarantine, but is able to designate another person to do so?
    It is possible, you should contact Guerin Enterprise (contacts below), send the relevant certificate and share the information of the 3rd person who will deliver the car on your behalf.   4. In case the Client needs to anticipate his contract (return before the contracted termination day)?
    You can make the return in advance without any penalty, Guerin Enterprise will only charge the days you used. Additionally, and if you need to deliver the car to a station other than the one initially defined, Guerin Enterprise will also not charge you any additional fees.   5. If the Customer wishes to change the return station for car delivery?

  6. If the Customer is interested in extending his current contract without going to a station?

  7. If the Customer has made a reservation and due to an unexpected constraint needs to cancel the reservation?
    During this period Guerin Enterprise will allow the cancellation of all reservations at no cost to the Client. If you made your reservation through the Enterprise website, you can access your Private area (Login) and cancel the respective reservation, or you can contact the Guerin Enterprise Reservation Center (contacts below). If you have booked through any other channel, you should contact the Guerin Enterprise Reservation Center at +351 210 100 200 (option 1) or send an email to centralreservas@guerin.com.pt..
  8. Customer wants to change his reservation to a new date?
    We suggest that you cancel your reservation and make another reservation for the new desired date. If you made your reservation through an operator, we request that you contact them directly. If you made your reservation through the Enterprise website, you can access your Private area (Login) and cancel the reservation, or you can contact the Guerin Enterprise Reservation Center (contacts below). If you have booked through any other Guerin Enterprise channel, you should contact the Guerin Reservation Center at +351 210 100 200 (option 1) or send an email to centralreservas@guerin.com.pt.
  9. Questions in relation to the continuity of Guerin Enterprise's operations and use of a Rent-a-Car vehicle after the issue of a national Decree?

  10. Guerin Enterprise is taking the right security measures to protect customers and employees?
    From the very first moment, measures were implemented to safeguard the physical integrity of Guerin Enterprise Employees and our Clients, allowing to keep our company active, responding to the needs of all our Clients: - all our employees are working with a mask and gloves - disinfectant gel is available in all locations - in our main service locations, an acrylic barrier was placed to protect both the Employee and Client - we only allow 1 Client to enter a location - we recommend that the Customer maintain a minimum safety distance of 1 meter in relation to the Employee, as in relation to the other Customers who are waiting - we reduced the number of Employees who are permanently at the stations - we have limited the maximum number of Employees in contact with our vehicles - we have implemented safety measures for cleaning our cars: a) when the Customer delivers the car there is immediate cleaning of the steering wheel, gear lever and driver's seat b) Cleaning products are being used to clean and prepare all cars c) Employees who clean the cars are all wearing a mask and gloves.
  11. Guerin Enterprise cars are being properly prepared (disinfected). What measures is Guerin Enterprise taking in this area??

    Guerin Enterprise is using cleaning products already regularly used. However, at this stage, we have chosen to increase the concentration or its use without dilution, in a purer solution, in order to guarantee a higher concentration of the product and effectiveness (products with high alcohol content and disinfectant characteristics); In addition to strengthening the general cleaning of the car, greater focus is being given to the most sensitive points such as: - surrounding steering wheel and handles; - shift lever / knob; - handles, exterior and interior, of all doors; - vehicle instrument panel, including climate control buttons, radio, CD player, "4 turn signals”, GPS, etc .; - interior rear view; - all power window control buttons; - parking brake ("handbrake”); - all vehicle seat belts and "buttons” of seat belt blockers; - buttons on / off the interior lights; - vehicle seat adjuster (height adjuster, backrest adjuster, neckrest adjuster, distance adjuster for vehicle pedals). In addition to the procedures described above, whenever we become aware of a potential suspicious case of infection from a Customer, the car is immobilized for 4 days and only after that period do we proceed with the preparation of the vehicle, protecting Customers and Staff. The employees who clean / park / fill the cars are equipped with gloves, clean their hands with disinfectant gel and use protective masks. The technical and safety data sheets of the products used are available for consultation, if necessary.
