1. Praia Fluvial do Rabaçal, Valpaços.
It's in Trás-os-Montes, more specifically in Valpaços, that we begin our itinerary. Praia Fluvial do Rabaçal is an increasingly poorly kept secret. Often sought after by canoeing and fishing enthusiasts, this is a beach that fits in perfectly with nature.
With lots of trees and full of little spots ideal for those who like photography, here you'll find all the facilities you need to spend an excellent day with family and friends.
2. Praia Fluvial da Lomba, Gondomar.
A little further south, on the left bank of the River Douro, we find Praia da Lomba. This beach in the municipality of Gondomar is the only guarded beach on the Douro and has plenty of space for all visitors on its long stretch of sand.
Here, you can choose to have a picnic in the picnic area, or even camp if you want to stay the next day. If you're curious, take a cab boat and visit the river beach of Melres, just next door.
3. Loriga River Beach, Seia.
Also in the north, near the Serra da Estrela, is one of the most beautiful river beaches in the country. Praia de Loriga is a sanctuary for lovers of nature, calm and serenity.
Located in a glacial valley, this beach with its pure, crystal-clear waters is a little oasis that few can resist. When you visit, take the opportunity to do the Loriga gorge route too, you'll love it.
4. Fragas de São Simão River Beach, in Figueiró dos Vinhos.
In the Lousã mountains, near Figueiró dos Vinhos, you'll find one of the most charming river beaches on this route. Fragas de São Simão is a beach embedded between two beautiful crags.
Here, the clean, translucent waters of the Ribeiro de Alge invite everyone to swim. But if you're really passionate about exploring, there are several levadas and small islands where you can enjoy and relax in nature at its purest.

5. Olhos de Água River Beach, Alcanena.
At the source of the River Alviela, in Alcanena, you can and should go for a swim at the beautiful Olhos de Água River Beach. A place where the cool, clear waters are ideal for a day of fun with family and friends.
As well as having a picnic area and a children's playground for the little ones, in the hottest hours you can opt for a visit to the Alviela Living Science Center.
6. Quinta do Alamal River Beach, Gavião.
Near Belver, in Gavião, there is a place that dazzles all who visit it. We're talking about the Quinta do Alamal River Beach, of course.
With a privileged view of Belver Castle, this beach stands out for the contrast between the green vegetation and the calm waters of the Tagus. If you also like hiking, you're in the right place. The wooden walkway that runs along the banks of the river is wonderful.
7. Pego das Pias River Beach, Beja.
In the lower Alentejo, near Odemira, there is a place of sublime beauty. Praia Fluvial Pego das Pias is a secluded beach between rocks that has no human intervention.
Nature is the great attraction here. So when you visit, be prepared to take everything you need with you, as there are no support structures of any kind here.
8. Pego do Fundo River Beach in Alcoutim.
We’ll finish our tour of the Algarve in the best possible way. The Pego do Fundo river beach is a very pleasant space surrounded by vegetation such as poplars, rose bushes and lavender.
Located on the Ribeira de Cadavais, the beach has a fantastic garden, playing fields and a picnic area. In other words, everything is ready for you to come and enjoy a unique and peaceful place to the fullest.
